A New Approach (ANA)
The Foundation commenced a funding relationship with A New Approach (ANA) in 2024.
ANA recognises that access to arts and culture provides proven benefits to our families, our communities and ourselves. Fostering belonging, social cohesion and community; improving health and learning; prompting innovation and productivity and assisting in recovery from disaster or disruption are all known, evidenced benefits of arts and cultural participation. However, access to these arts and culture-based benefits are not readily available to everyone, especially in regional and remote Australia.

Effective and efficient policy is needed to ensure all Australians, whoever they are and wherever they live, can participate in, and contribute, to our national creative and cultural life. ANA identifies practical policy solutions to increase arts and cultural access, including for regional and remote communities.
ANA’s research, policy analysis and engagement program identifies and practically advances evidence-led, pragmatic steps to ensure:
- Increased access for Australians to the proven benefits of creative participation and expression, including belonging, social cohesion; health and wellbeing; and learning and innovation.
- Sustainable cultural and creative industries, providing employment, economic benefits and trade opportunities.
- Fit-for-purpose policy settings and effective use of the cultural funding by all three levels of government, including better cross-government and cross-portfolio coordination.
- Enhancing Australia’s reputation as a successful multicultural liberal democracy by fostering globally significant creative and cultural practise, institutions and expression.
